Today's walk took us from the point we finished last time, (opposite the back of Airbus) to the famous blue bridge crossing the Dee Estuary into Garden City. It wasn't quite as long a walk as last time as the weather was no where near as nice. Infact, you will hear from the recording that it was pretty windy at times. The recording I have decided to post from today's walk is from the back of the North Wales Shooting School at Sealand.
If you are interested in our little mission, you can follow Rachel's blog about our walk at... http://rcatherall99.blogspot.co.uk/ It has a bit of info about where we have been and a load of photos.
Anyway, thanks for dropping by!! We're hoping to cover a little more ground again tomorrow, so in the mean time, I hope you enjoy this recording!!

Well, it's been a while since I've been on here. Been busy at the theatre, designing sound on a great production of, As You Like It, directed by Terry Hands, which we then took to Swansea Grand and The New Theatre, Cardiff.
Anyway, here is the first of hopefully many recordings on this theme. Me and my better half have decided that we want to walk the entire Wales Coastal Path. For those who don't know what it is, it's basically a path all the way around Wales, from north to south. I'm sure it will take a few years to walk the whole length, as we only really have time to do the odd hour or two here and there, but it's a bit of a mission of ours. In addition to walking this path, my idea is to make a series of recordings along the way, with the idea of maybe releasing it at some point in the future. My aim is to basically record the sound of Wales' coast and show the difference in sound of the environment and nature of the different areas - I know it sounds a bit nerdy, but there you go!!! I will also be posting short clips of some of these recordings here, so please keep checking back.
This is a short sample of one of the first recordings, which I did a couple of weeks ago. It was recorded near the start of the path, not too far from the back of Chester City's football ground, walking towards Queensferry, near the historic crossing point of the Dee Estuary at High Ferry.
If anyone is interested, my girlfriend is going to blog the whole walk with photos etc. I'll post the link here with my next upload.
Cheers
Wills

Back to my short Munich trip to the Christmas Markets recently (see prevoius post), I made this recording. We were on our way back from the Hofbrauhaus beer hall, walking towards the main street, when in the distance, above the sound of the general ambience, I could hear a didgeridoo being played. We followed the sound to a small precinct where there was a busker all huddled up playing away. I obviously didn't want to go and stand infront of him and record him, but I stood near by and listened for a while. We obviously gave him some money for the playing. The thing I particularly liked was towards the end of this short clip, you may be able to hear the playing seems to merge with the pre-recorded music that had started playing in the precint. I obviously can't post that for copyright reasons etc, but you may get a sense of what I mean for a few seconds.

Last year, we took a little jolly to Marrakech for a couple of nights and stayed in a beautiful little riad about a minutes walk from the famous Djemaa el Fna square. Being quite a light sleeper, it doesn't take a lot to wake me, but at approx 5 am I was woken by a very repetitive but fascinating bird song, which I believe to be that of a Moroccan House Bunting. I lay listening to it for about 5 minutes then suddenly decided I needed to get a recording of it. I jumped out of bed, eyes still half closed and fumbled my way outside to the top of the riad with my trusty little recorder and sat there for about 10 mins, eyes closed just taking in the sound of dawn breaking. It was an incredible moment that I'll not forget. So here is a short snippit of that recording. The whole recording is a lot longer, but to be honest sounds more of the same. Hope you like it, I'll be posting more from Morocco soon.

Here is a recording I made in Munich just before Christmas (See last post for more info) in the world famous Hofbrauhaus Beer Hall. The recording is of the general ambience and people chatter, but after approx 30 secs, the resident in house Bavarian band start to play a song. I'm not sure what the name of the song is, but if anyone knows, please let me know. Recorded in late December 2011, late afternoon.

Well, the last post seemed to work, so lets try posting a short recording....
Just before Christmas, I took a few days off panto and me and my girlfriend went to Munich to visit the Christmas markets. We'd been to Munich before, but never at Christmas and I have to say, it was quite magical. The second day there, we decided to jump on the train and go along to Fussen to visit the famous Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles in the Bavarian Mountains. We had been there a few times before too, but never when it had been quite so snowy. It was relatively quiet there, with most tourists opting just to visit the castles. We decided to take a wander down to the near by Alpsee Lake. The air was so still but the snow was coming down fast and hard. This is a short edit of a recording I made on the water's edge of the Alpsee (converted to mp3 for the sake of storage on this site). I don't know what it is about this recording, but every time I hear it, I just become totally relaxed and remember the swan that swam from the other side of the lake just to see what we were doing.
Anyway, if there are any other audio geeks out there like me, you may find this of some interest...if not, oh well, at least it makes me smile.

Well, this will be interesting, I've no idea if this is going to work or not.
This is my first post and hopefully over time, I will be posting blogs and recordings that interest or amuse me.
I am currently sat in the sound room, working through technical notes for our current production of, 'As You Like It'. Infront of me, Terry Hands is on stage directing, and to my right, Colin Towns is tinkering away, composing for our forthcoming production of, 'A Doll's House'. Details of these shows can be found at www.clwyd-theatr-cymru.co.uk
I decided to start this site off after being inspired by a number of other Podbean sites, mainly Steve Brown's, Listenhear podcast site and thought it might be fun, so hopefully this will work and over the next few days, weeks and months, I will be blogging and casting more.
Cheers
